From preschool to summer school and fun after school programs, we have a variety of programs to help your child get the most out of his/her years in the J.O. Combs Unified School District.

We invite all children who will be five years old before September 1, 2013, to join the J.O. Combs Unified School District 2013-2014 kindergarten class!

You are welcome to register your child for kindergarten at any of the J.O. Combs elementary school sites. There is no charge for a.m. or p.m. kindergarten, and registration is free. Kindergarten times for 2013-2014 will be 8:15 a.m. - 11:05 a.m. or 12:15 p.m. - 3:05 p.m.

Early Kindergarten Testing
By law, students must turn five by December 31 of the school year (date of birth prior to 12/31/08) to qualify for early kindergarten. Please contact the Community Education office at 480-987-5310 to schedule an appointment.

We administer the early kinder test in English, and it is for academically and developmentally advanced students. We assess students on their social development, motor skills, and academic skills. There is a fee for the early kindergarten test.

Kindergarten Options
Listed below are other tuition-based available options. Parents may register and reserve a space for their child at the district office (Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) by paying the $65.00 registration fee.

All Day Kindergarten
If you think your child is ready for more than half-day kindergarten, the All Day Kindergarten class may be right for you. Children in the All Day Kindergarten program benefit from a full day of academic instruction with a highly-qualified certified classroom teacher. This tuition-based class is dependent on a minimum enrollment. The All Day Kindergarten program requires ten monthly tuition payments of $250.

Kinder Express
The district is also offering an all-day “wrap around” program, Kinder Express, at each school. Kindergartners will attend half-day with a highly qualified, certified kindergarten teacher and half-day with a highly qualified paraprofessional educator and classroom aide. Kinder Express allows a child to attend either morning or afternoon sessions of kindergarten for academic instruction with a certified teacher. This program is tuition-based and is dependent upon minimum enrollment. Kinder Express enrollment requires ten monthly payments of $130.

How can the Arizona Tax Credit donation assist with your kindergarten options?
For the Kinder Express program, families may designate that their 2012 and 2013 Arizona School Tax Credit donations be applied to tuition payments. In making tax credit donations, the funds ($400 per calendar year for married couples, $200 if filing as a single person) are returned to income tax filers in the form of a State Income Tax Credit.
