Transportation Direct Line (480) 987-5309 Ext.1
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The J.O. Combs Unified School District has a staff of professionally trained Arizona State certified school bus drivers and aides that are transporting your precious cargo. Our drivers and aides are committed to the safe transportation of your Student. Our team will assist your bus rider in learning acceptable behavior to travel safely, on our school buses. The Transportation Department sincerely invites the parents to be members of our team.
Parents, your first responsibility is to ensure your bus riders know their route number and where the bus stop is before they leave home on their first day of school. Secondly, please note that we approximate the bus pick-up times. We ask that your bus rider be at the bus stop at least 10 minutes earlier than the scheduled pick up time, with the understanding that times may vary throughout the school year. However, the driver should notify you when these changes affect your Student.
The bus line up is in route order at each of the schools. Please make sure your bus rider knows their route number and their bus stop. It will take the driver time to learn each of the riders’ names and their stop location along the driver's route. We want to make sure that your Student does not get on or off at an incorrect bus stop.
Unknown circumstances have guaranteed that at sometimes a bus will run later to the stop than expected. Please ask your Student to wait 10 to 15 minutes past the pick-up time before returning home for assistance.
Bus riding is a privilege and a service that our School District provides. There is no law that mandates transportation of Students not requiring specialized transportation. Student misbehavior causing driver distraction jeopardizes the safety of all Students on the bus. Students are required to follow the drivers’ directions and District safety rules to ensure a safe ride. Students that do not follow the drivers’ directions or misbehave can and will have consequences that do include bus suspension.
Please include in your conversation to your Student, bus stop behavior and respecting the rights and property of others. If trespassing or vandalism problems are reported at the bus stop, and continue after it is addressed by the Transportation Department, the bus stop can and will be eliminated. Bus stops are evaluated on a continuing basis for safety and the School District reserves the right to add and delete them as the circumstances dictate.
Please contact the Transportation Department and the school that your Student attends with any changes such as address, contact phone numbers, baby sitters, etc. The Transportation Department sincerely appreciates your assistance and cooperation in these important matters. If you need any further assistance, please contact us at 480-987-5309.
