    Apply for a Mini-Classroom Grant!

    About: The Combs Education Foundation supports educational opportunities for students, staff, and families by funding the development and implementation of quality programs, establishing strong community partnerships, and supporting the goals of the J.O. Combs Unified School District.

    We fulfill this mission by giving in three important areas: student scholarships to Combs High School seniors, classroom grants, and recognizing outstanding staff members in the J.O. Combs Unified School District.


    Purpose: Projects that qualify for mini-classroom grants should enhance the educational and curricular objectives of the J.O. Combs Unified School District. The Combs Educational Foundation seeks to support qualified and innovative projects that support the District's strategic plan and #Forward initiative. These projects must be aligned with the District’s curriculum and demonstrate the potential to positively impact student learning and must be consistent with District goals.

    Eligibility: All certified staff within the J.O. Combs Unified School District are eligible to apply.  Certified staff includes certified teachers, counselors, social workers, OT, PT, SLP/SLPA, Psychologists and Librarians. 

    Grant Amount: Grant project requests should not exceed $1,000.  The total amount requested must include shipping and tax costs. The Foundation will provide up to ten (10) grants that are competitive in nature.  All schools in the District will be guaranteed a minimum of one (1) grant.  Grants may be submitted for an individual or a team of certified staff.

    Timeline: The application period will open on November 1, 2022 and all applications must be submitted no later than 4:00 pm on Friday, December 2, 2022. All applications are reviewed by the Grants Committee chairperson, the Foundation Grants Committee and the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment. Winners will be notified in January 2023.


    Grant Applicants Checklist:

    • Meet with your Principal and the technology department (if project includes tech) to review your proposal prior to submittal. Failure to get their approval prior to submission will result in disqualification from the review process.

    • Collect budget information/quote

    • Complete and submit the grant application by Friday, December 2, 2022

    Projects that are awarded and funded must adhere to the following: 

    • Winners must work with site administrative assistants no later than two weeks after award notification to place grant orders.
    • All unexpended funds will be returned to the Foundation at the end of the fiscal year (June 30, 2023).  Extensions to the completion date may be requested due to delays and other factors beyond the control of the applicant/project manager.

    • After grants have been implemented, please share photos of the money in action!  Photos may be submitted to dacosta@jocombs.org
