Update on Face Mask Requirements

March 25, 2021

Dear Combs Community,

We are aware that many questions are emerging as a result of today's announcement from Governor Ducey regarding the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions and local mask mandates. We have received the following guidance from ADE and our legal counsel regarding the continued mask requirements for K-12 schools.

While today's Executive Order rescinds several previous Executive Orders that impact city and county mask mandates, as well as restrictions on organized public events, it does not rescind any Executive Order directly related to public schools. These include Executive Order 2020-51 and AZDHS Emergency Measure 2020-04 that specifically require school districts to have a face-covering policy in place.

We will continue to operate in compliance with this Emergency Measure, including our existing face covering policy that requires masks to be worn on all district and school campuses by students, staff, and visitors, until otherwise directed. This update will also be shared with all students and families districtwide.

We thank you again for your ongoing support and patience as we navigate these matters together.

Regards,

Dr. Gregory A. Wyman

Superintendent
