Virtual Enrollment Portal

Now Enrolling for the 2020-2021 School Year!

In order to maintain the health and safety of our students and families, the J.O. Combs Unified School District has created a virtual enrollment portal to allow families to enroll students for the 2020-21 school year. Below you will find all the information you need to register your child online or set up an in-person enrollment appointment!
In order to make the registration process as quick as possible, please gather/scan the following items:
  1. Certified Birth Certificate
  2. Immunization Records
  3. Withdrawal form from previous school
  4. Proof of Residency (a utility bill/lease/contract to build)
  5. As a parent or guardian, you will also need a valid Photo ID
  6. And don't forget your enrollment forms!
Please click on the school name that you would like to enroll in. Not sure which school you should enroll in? Just view our boundary map.

How old should my child be to register for kindergarten?

If your child turns five before September 1, 2020, it's time to register for kindergarten! Please see the above information for necessary documents.

What is Early Kindergarten Testing?

If your child turns five before December 31, 2020, they may qualify for early kindergarten testing. Please note that the list below describes general concepts that the early kinder test will be assessing:
  • Social Development: How well does student separate from parents, follow directions, and interact with adults and peers.
  • Motor Skills: Physical activity, holding a pencil, and using scissors.
  • Basic Academic Skills: Knowing shapes, colors, letters, and numbers.

Due to the current school closure, we have postponed screening until schools are reopened. Dates and times will be shared on this webpage once schools are allowed to reopen for staff and students by the state of Arizona. Should you have further questions regarding this process, please feel free to contact Marcus Berkshire at 480-987-5300.

If your child has not yet demonstrated these skills, we would recommend that you instead consider Kinder Prep preschool which is also taught by a certified teacher. Please refer to the Community Education section of our website for additional information regarding this program.

To help protect your child, state law requires an original copy of your child's immunization from the Doctor. Inappropriate spacing between shots may require additional doses to be administered. The required immunizations include:

DPT   5 doses needed if 4th dose was given prior to 4th birthday
OPV 4 doses needed if 3rd dose was given prior to 4th birthday
MMR 2 doses needed, 1st dose on or after 1st birthday
Varicella 1 dose required (chicken pox vaccine)
Hepatitis B 3-shot series
Tdap age 11 for 6th-12th grades
Meningococcal age 11 for 6th-12th grades

Please refer to the Arizona state requirements for complete information.
Student exemptions may be filed when a state exemption form is filled out for one of the following reasons:
  • The child's doctor certifies that the child is unable to be given one or more vaccines due to a current health condition which affects the child either temporarily or permanently.
  • A parent certifies that immunizations are contrary to their personal beliefs.

The law allows exemptions; however, the County Health Department may request we exclude your child from school should there be an outbreak of any of these diseases.
