Children learn through experience and discovery. Our goal in the J.O. Combs Kinder Prep program is to prepare children to enter kindergarten with a healthy self-concept and a positive attitude toward school and learning. Children who will turn four by December 31 of that school year are eligible for this class. The Kindergarten Prep program is exciting and unique in many ways. Your child will learn in a positive, child-oriented program with a hands-on active approach toward learning. Kinder Prep is taught by a certified teacher.

These classrooms are licensed by the Department of Health Services and approved by the Department of Economic Security. 

Highlights of the Full-Day Program

• Full-Day Schedule: Expanded from partial-day to full-day Kinder Prep

• Aligned Calendar: Follows the district calendar

• Certified Teacher: Led by a certified teacher to ensure a high-quality learning experience

• Age Requirements: Student MUST turn 4 years of age before September 1st to qualify for the program.

Program Costs:

• $75 registration fee (non-refundable, due at the time of registration)

• $814 per month, due on the 1st of each month

  • We accept DES for families with financial hardship

  • For July only: Families may pay by July 14 (one week before school starts)

  • Please note: Fees are not prorated for school breaks, holidays, closures, or missed days

Ellsworth Elementary

• Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM

• Wed (Early Release): 8:30 AM – 1:15 PM
