The J.O. Combs Unified School District is pleased to announce that Mr. Toby Haugen has been selected by the Governing Board as the district’s next Superintendent. Mr. Haugen will officially begin his term on July 1, 2026.
To ensure a smooth transition, he will work closely with Dr. Greg Wyman, the district’s current Superintendent, over the coming months. Official updates will be shared with families, staff, and the community in the weeks ahead.

The following dates, though subject to change, outline the key milestones of the superintendent search process.
- June 11, 2025 - Vacancy announcement
- October 3, 2025 5 PM- Deadline for applications
- October 17, 2025 - Governing Board Members review applicants
- November 7, 2025 - Initial candidate interviews
- November 14, 2025 - 8:00 a.m. in the Board Room, Finalist interviews of candidates
- November 18, 2025 - 6 p.m. Staff and Community meet the finalists
- November 19, 2025 - 5:30 p.m. Special Board Meeting -superintendent announcement
- December 2025 - Contract negotiations with new superintendent
- January-June 2026 - Spring transition support with Board meetings, Superintendent shadowing, and district orientation
- July 1, 2026 - Incoming superintendent assumes duties
