Dear J.O. Combs Community,

It is a privilege to introduce myself as the Superintendent of the J.O. Combs Unified
School District. As I step into this role, I am profoundly grateful to join a community that cares so deeply about the success, well-being, and future of its students.

Our district is built on an incredibly rich history of community collaboration. From our
humble beginnings in the 1950s – when the J.O. Combs family donated the land for our first school site – our schools and community have always been driven by a shared dedication to our children. We have grown remarkably from those original two barracks into a vibrant, unified district spanning 68 square miles across San Tan Valley. Today, we proudly serve 3,500 students across our eight campuses, yet we still retain that original, tight-knit spirit from which our original community sprouted and grew.

While we honor our proud past, we are firmly focused on our future. What drew me to J.O. Combs is the focused work being done across our district to ensure that all kids learn every day. Through all levels, our students are building the critical skills, knowledge, and character they need to be successful in whatever path they choose after graduating from Combs High School.

As your Superintendent, my priority is to support this incredible work and ensure our
schools remain safe, welcoming, and nurturing environments for everyone. Guided by our core values of Integrity, Innovation, Learning, Respect, and Nurturing, I look forward to partnering with our dedicated educators, our involved parents, and our developing community.

When families and schools work together, students succeed. I am excited to meet you all and to begin our journey towards excellence for the benefit of every child.

Respectfully,
Toby Haugen
Superintendent
J.O. Combs Unified School District
